Life Reinsurance System Treaty Specialist

Specific responsibilities

The Reinsurance System Treaties Specialist will work both independently and collaboratively to perform technical duties outlined below within the Administration department, effectively following established guidelines, processes and best practices. This role works closely with other departments to leverage collective expertise and information to complete system treaties, automate transaction files and complete other special projects within deadline and quality targets. Assists in training staff to perform system treaty duties and will transfer knowledge as needed to ensure the team accomplishes department objectives.


System Treaty Administration:
• Analyze quote and accurately interpret legal treaty requirements to create and/or revise system treaties including the mapping of insurance plans and the setup of products in the administration system to ensure accurate processing.
• Test the accuracy of the system treaties by developing and executing test plans in parallel with clients’ files.
• Document and explain product features within the administration system so that it is easily understood by users of the administration system across the company.
• Promptly address internal client’s questions/issues related to system treaty requirements, adhering to any established time service requirements.
• Conduct research by partnering with team, internal clients, and management to proactively resolve challenges and roadblocks that may prevent timely completion of tasks.

Electronic File Processing:
• Establishes and confirms IT requirements for new and existing file automation.
• Analyzes and resolves complex issues in relation to automated processing.
• Communicates data requirements with internal clients.
• Reviews and approves technical procedure documentation for creating and maintaining automated processing.
• Verify integrity of external client data comparing it to reinsurance source documents.


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• LOMA certification AMLI and ARA preferred.
• 4 years of relevant office experience
• Experience with mainframe administration systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.


• Ability to work independently, owning and driving tasks to completion.
• Proven knowledge of insurance and reinsurance concepts and familiarity with contract wording. • Analytical, with strong technical skills and ability to apply logic and reasoning.
• Capable of managing diverse requests from various sources while maintaining quality results.
• Ability to effectively transfer knowledge.
• Superior organizational and follow up skills.
• Outstanding collaborative, interpersonal and communication skills; able to effectively interact with all levels of internal business partners.
