Responsabilités spécifiques

Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Underwriting Assistant is responsible for completing all commercial property and liability data entry of new business, endorsements and renewals into system accurately for the branch. He/she assists the underwriters by handling renewal underwriting functions such as processing automatic renewals and/or contacting brokers for updated information on renewals as well as by underwriting and processing basic endorsements including contacting brokers for information as required.

 

The Underwriting Assistant also issues all policy documents within company service standards; 5 days for new business, 10 days for endorsements, 30 days prior to renewal, follows up with brokers for outstanding information as may be required and orders inspections, follows up on outstanding inspections, distributes inspections to the underwriters, prepares recommendation letters, and follows up on recommendation letters as may be required. Finally, the Underwriting Assistant completes other assigned tasks including electronic policy information file management, location mapping of new quotes within a timely fashion and other related tasks.

 

Expérience et formation

In order to meet the requirements of this position, the candidate must have his/her high school diploma.  Previous office experience would be considered an asset. He/she should be interested in pursuing a CIP designation.

Qualités et aptitudes

The candidate should be recognized for his/her good communication skills (verbal and written) and efficient keyboarding, data entry skills and attention to detail. He/she must be a team player with a positive attitude.  Customer service, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential for the position.  The selected applicant would work within our local Winnipeg office, with flexibility for limited remote work as needed.
